What makes a treat genuinely natural
"Natural" is not a protected word on pet food packaging, so it pays to read past the front of the bag. A genuinely natural treat contains whole, recognisable ingredients — beef liver, chicken breast, salmon skin, lamb lung — and nothing designed only to extend shelf life or brighten colour.
We keep ingredient lists short on purpose. Fewer ingredients means fewer variables when your dog has a sensitive stomach, and it makes elimination diets far easier to run.
- One named protein source per recipe wherever possible
- No added sugar, syrups or salt
- No artificial colours, flavours or chemical preservatives
- Traceable origin for every batch
Single-ingredient treats and sensitive dogs
Dogs with itchy skin, loose stools or food intolerances usually react to something added, not to the meat itself. Single-ingredient treats let you reward your dog without introducing a new variable into their diet.
If you are working through an exclusion diet with your vet, pick one protein your dog already tolerates and stay with it for the whole trial period.
How to use natural treats day to day
Treats of any kind should stay below 10% of your dog's daily calories. Break larger pieces into training-sized rewards, keep richer organ meats as high-value rewards, and use whole pieces for enrichment in a snuffle mat or lick pad.
